York is known as “Crossroads of America” as it is a few miles from the geographical center of the United States. The city was founded in 1869 by the South Platte Land Company and is the county seat for York County. Settled between Interstate 80, US Highway 81, and US Highway 34, York is the birthplace of the National 4-H Program. This city with just under 8,000 residents has many building with distinctive features that were built by the Works Progress Administration during World War II.
